Our Mission

The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Student Government Association was established to cultivate and maintain the spirit and ideals of the St. Mary’s community and promote an ethic of responsibility. We, as an SGA, are tasked to express student concerns to the larger campus community and safeguard student interests in cooperation with the faculty, administration, and Board of Trustees of St. Mary’s College of Maryland. We strive to facilitate effective communication among the St. Mary’s students and encourage their involvement in all phases of campus life. It is our duty as a governing body to study all student organizations and policies, recommending any necessary and worthy changes therein. Further, it is our duty to maintain and allocate funds on behalf of the student body and charter student-run clubs and organizations. Finally, it is our ultimate goal to uphold the values of the St. Mary’s Way through democratic and transparent processes.

The goal of the Student Government Association is to foster a community where students and campus leaders can work together and build relationships. We should act as an entity that supports student initiatives which strive to make our campus a better place. The only way greatness can be achieved is if we work as a team!
